Clearly you don't know hipsters very well (they're not at all into "Love and peace"). Hipsters are turned off by everything anyone else likes en masse not for political or ethical reasons, but because of a need to feel superior to those with "poor taste" ie everyone else. How about, "I just found out Pitchfork is owned by Halliburton so I started watching MTV - it's so mainstream that it's become hip again."
